K and 1 have been continuing with the Children's Book Award nominees. So far The Princess and the Pig seems to be the favorite with Clink running a close second! We have talked about elements of the stories as we identify characters and settings.
2nd grade has been finishing up their fairy tale units with several different read-alouds. We have read different versions of The 3 Billy Goats Gruff and The Three Little Pigs. We have discussed point of view and common elements that are found in all fables, fairy tales and folktales. We also read The Princess and the Pig and Goldie Socks and the Three Libearians. It's really fun to see how many different versions of all the different stories are out there!
3rd, 4th and 5th have created accounts on Destiny Quest and have been having fun making friends, reviewing books and putting holds on books (so they can FINALLY read that book they've been waiting for!) We also worked with MackinVia - Cobb Digital Library - and learned about all of the various databases that we can use and e-books available to check out! We have a users guide behind the Circ desk if you need help or just want a quick refresher!
March 3 we will have guest readers from McClure Middle School join us to help celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. If you click on 'more' at the top of the Media page, there is some fun information about Dr. Seuss. Did you know that he was also a political cartoonist during World War 2?!
Finally, Bullet is ready to travel so check out his page for the latest information. To reserve a Bullet, print and return the application (found on his page) and we will check one out to you. When you return, please be sure that you fill out a short trip-report and e-mail pictures so we can keep track of where Bullet is traveling! There are 11 Bullets ready to go!
Have a great week!
